Located in the heart of Olympia, Washington, Cedar Inn Tavern is the quintessential local bar that perfectly captures a welcoming, down-to-earth atmosphere where patrons feel right at home the moment they walk in. This beloved neighborhood tavern at 9030 Martin Way E effortlessly blends a friendly country vibe with a lively social scene, making it a magnet for anyone looking to unwind over excellent drinks and classic American bar fare.
What truly sets Cedar Inn Tavern apart is its commitment to both quality and character. The drink menu shines with stiff, well-crafted cocktails—Kevin Acheson’s raving about their loaded Bloody Mary says it all: “Hot Damn!!!” From expertly mixed chocolate martinis to a solid selection of beers on tap, every sip feels thoughtfully made by bartenders who bring equal parts skill and personality to the bar. One regular even noted the bartender’s sassy charm and the playful tradition of coordinating a goldfish race, adding a quirky and delightful touch to the experience.
Foodies will find plenty to savor here with classic tavern staples that deliver hearty satisfaction. The cheeseburgers come highly recommended—whether it’s the indulgent Bacon Cheeseburger or the bold Bleu Cheese Burger that Kevin insists you "don’t question, just do." The Thursday special also turns up the flavor with the Burger and Fries loaded with cheese and bacon. If you’re in the mood for something stacked and savory, the Philly Cheese Steak is an unbeatable choice, dripping with melty cheese and tender, seasoned beef. And don’t miss the crispy, golden Onion Rings that perfectly complement any entrée.
Beyond the mains, Cedar Inn Tavern offers a wide variety of appetizers and sides to tease your palate—from the crispy, cheesy Tater Tots and deep-fried mushrooms to the spicy kick of Jalapeno Poppers and the comforting warmth of Cheesy Garlic Bread. Their salads, such as the fresh and crunchy Taco Salad or the hearty Crispy Chicken Salad, add a lighter balance to the menu, catering thoughtfully to different tastes.
Customers frequently mention the inviting, unpretentious vibe of this “hole in the wall” bar, where the service is genuinely friendly and makes everyone feel like family. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick drink, meeting friends for a game of pool or darts, or settling in to enjoy a full meal, the Cedar Inn Tavern creates a sense of community that’s rare and refreshing. The covered outdoor area is especially loved by visitors seeking a relaxed spot to enjoy their drinks in the fresh air, contributing to the overall charm of this timeless local spot.
In essence, Cedar Inn Tavern is more than just a bar—it’s a community hub where great drinks, satisfying comfort food, and warm, authentic hospitality come together. For those who crave genuine local flavor wrapped in a welcoming embrace, it’s a destination that delivers every time.
I love this place. I just started going there. I haven’t eaten there yet, but I gave it five stars for the food because I have seen what other people have eaten and it smells really good. The service is great and always friendly and the atmosphere good ole hole in the wall bar my favorite.
I didnt order food, just met someone for drinks, but it wasnt my scene, but im not gonna hold that against them. The bartender was friendly and made excellent drinks. If you're into pool, darts, a country vibe and stiff drinks, go to Cedar Inn Tavern!
Quintessential local bar. The bartender was sassy, friendly and doesn't drink! But she does coordinate the goldfish race! Try it! You can take your goldfish home :) She made a chocolate martini for me that was the bomb. I'm totally not tipsy as I write this.
Bleu Cheese burger. Don’t question. Just do. Bloody Mary. Loaded. Don’t question. Just do. Stopping in? Don’t question. Just do. Drinks are solid. Tap selection is adequate. The food was excellent. And this Bloody Mary thing? Hot Damn!!!
The bartender was very sweet . It’s our first time in this area and we for-sure will be returning. We love the cover back area
I think their name was Amber that was bartending last night (July 18). I appreciated them being a girls girl and helping me through a crisis while holding down the bar and all the people. I’ll be back again soon.
